Optimization Scientist (Security Clearance) – Red Cell Partners, Huntsville, AL. Full‑time.
About the RoleWe are seeking a creative, mathematically skilled Optimization Scientist to join our Tech Development & Analytics team at DEFCON AI, part of Red Cell Partners. The role focuses on developing and deploying advanced optimization models to solve complex problems across healthcare, cyber, and national security domains.
Responsibilities- Integrate with an interdisciplinary team of experts in optimization and simulation to design, build, and optimize models that deliver high‑quality, real‑world insights.
- Design and implement novel heuristics and optimization models to solve complex problems, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in decision science and implement best practices for our customers.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to non‑technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
- Demonstrated expertise in building mathematical optimization models for complex real‑world problems.
- Strong coding skills in one or more programming languages with a willingness to learn more.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey highly technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Advanced degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- U.S. citizenship and a U.S. Secret Clearance are required.
- Residence in Huntsville, AL or willingness to relocate (company assisted).
- Experience with cloud‑based SaaS products and pipelines.
- Experience with algebraic modeling languages and solvers (e.g., Pyomo, GAMS, AMPL, CPLEX, Gurobi).
- A Ph.D. with a focus on optimization.
- Experience modeling transportation and logistics.
- Publications in scientific journals and/or conferences.
