Job Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled, experienced mid-level civil engineer to join our growing company. The ideal candidate will have a diverse design and project management portfolio of infrastructure projects for a wide range of clients, to include streets, roadways, wastewater collection, water distribution, storm drainage and site design. This person will work closely with other engineers and technicians to design and manage several civil engineering projects simultaneously.
- Job Duties
- Prepares engineering designs using field surveying data, reports, maps, drawings, and topographical and geologic data.
- Perform drafting tasks to directly produce preliminary and final construction drawings or oversee and work with drafting personnel in accomplishment of same.
- Manages CAD, surveying, field inspectors, clerical, and other support staff directly involved with the project to ensure adherence to standards and delivery of project on schedule and within budget.
- Prepares preliminary engineering reports, feasibility studies, master plans, environmental documents, and technical reports.
- Communicate frequently and effectively both with colleagues within the company and staff from other companies or agencies.
- Conducts meetings with clients to determine scope of project and other needs.
- Determines and prepares project cost estimates.
- Attends public meetings prepared to answer questions from and have discussions with stakeholders and other interested parties about projects.
- Prepares contract documents including drawings, construction specifications, advertisement for bids, bid forms, bonds, information for bidders, addenda and change orders.
- Correct any project deficiencies that affect production, quality, and safety requirements prior to final evaluation and project reviews.
- Conducts pre-construction meetings, pre-bid meetings, periodic construction meetings, etc.
- Confirms contractor adherence to construction specifications by monitoring project progress, inspecting construction site, and reviewing shop drawings.
- Confirms design or construction phase hours and expenditures and prepares and/or confirms invoicing.
- Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited school (a master's degree in civil engineering is a plus)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform applications
- Proficiency in AutoCADCivil3D and/or Micro Station (Geopak or Open Roads) design platforms
- Minimum ten (10) years of total engineering experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to attain within 6 months of hire).
- Strong technical and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team (both in-person and remote)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
