Overview
The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) seeks its next Dean of the College of Engineering. Reporting directly to the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, the dean will act as the lead academic and administrative officer for the college and will devise and execute strategic planning and visioning for the college. The dean will foster an organizational culture that enables the recruitment and retention of talented faculty, staff, and students.
The dean is responsible for the quality of academic programs and managing the fiscal, human, and physical resources and facilities of the College of Engineering. As the main spokesperson for the college, the dean will build deeper connections internally with leaders across the university and alumni, and externally with industry and government officials to align academic and industry needs for a rapidly growing metropolitan community.
UAH offers a rigorous, hands-on curriculum and a broad range of degree programs across six colleges, with a strong emphasis on experiential opportunities, laboratory research, internships, and co-op placements with leading government and industry partners. The College of Engineering is UAH’s largest college, with a focus on engaging students in rigorous classroom learning and opportunities to participate in the NASA Human Exploration Challenge and other partnerships.
The college also contributes to K-12 engineering outreach and community programs.
