Overview
If you have the hands on skills, creativity and teamwork spirit to create and build physical displays, models and outreach exhibits, come join us! The Exhibits and Model Shop at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center seeks an Exhibit Technician III to be a critical part of the team. Work is primarily on-site at Marshall with some travel to venues across the U.S. The successful candidate will be part of a team of model and exhibit fabricators and technicians who build, transport, set up and configure exhibits at various venues in support of NASA missions.
The desired candidate will have a great attitude, and experience to perform fabrication using relevant software and tools and participate in the design phase as well. This is a full-time position in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and daily operations can fluctuate, requiring flexibility, adaptability, project management and a proactive mindset.
Duties include:
- Advanced fabrication, finishing, and repair of exhibits and models
- Operating various hand and power tools including table saws, bandsaws, drills, level grinders, sanders and C&C router
- Operating a large format printer, laminator, vinyl cutter, and engraver
- Working from fabrication drawings, blueprints, and/or sketches to fabricate exhibits and exhibit booths
- Create designs for various exhibit and outreach projects if requested
- Managing several exhibit projects simultaneously
- Ability to create estimates if requested, track progress and lead meetings to report on project milestones
- Working with minimal guidance
- Interfacing with NASA customers and from across the Agency and often with facilities representatives at conferences and exhibitions in a professional manner
Selected candidates must have an active and current driver’s license and be able to navigate independently, and be prepared for an estimated 20-25% travel within the continental U.S.
Qualifications- Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in industrial design, fabrication, or a related field. Project management skills are a plus
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, or a related field is preferred.

Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Solidworks, Keyshot Pro, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience with Agile project management is desirable. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Soft Skills: Strong team orientation, collaborative spirit, problem solving, ability to lead teams or assignments when asked, prioritize competing deadlines, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Minor welding fabrication, electrical knowledge, holder of CDL, 3d printing knowledge would be a plus.
Physical Requirements: Willingness to engage in hands-on tasks, including heavy lifting and operating heavy machinery. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., operate various hand tools and heavy equipment (i.e., forklifts, hoists) required to move/lift properties, ability to safely work using ladders
