Simulations Technician

Location:

Huntsville AL, 1 Tranquility Base, Huntsville, AL 35805, USA.

• Daily inspections of Rocket Center equipment to maintain effective and efficient operation, safety, and appearance.
• Equipment includes but is not limited to technical, hydraulic, electro‑mechanical, computer peripherals, robotics.
• Repair / modify computer hardware, software and networking.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of Rocket Center leadership requests.
• Complete documentation related to job activities.
• Design, fabricate, inspect, install, and repair Rocket Center equipment and simulators.
• Maintenance of technical, hydraulic, electro‑mechanical, computer peripherals, robotics equipment.

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a 2-year technical degree in electronics (Industrial Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar).
• Software programming languages and other job‑related technical/mechanical experience will be considered.

Required Experience

• Leadership experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electronic and electro‑mechanical devices.
• Ability to use the tools, equipment, and materials of this job profession effectively and safely.
• Experience troubleshooting and inspecting equipment.
• Experience with Windows operating systems.
• Experience with computer hardware assembly, software programming, computer networking, 3D modeling software, machining, and robotics.

• Walking and climbing (stairs, ladders) to access work‑related areas.
• Pushing, carrying, and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to waist height.
• Bending, kneeling, and reaching to maintain and repair simulators and exhibits.
• Sight, reading, wrist movements, feeling to inspect, maintain, and repair simulators and exhibits, to operate tools of the trade.
• Talking, and hearing to communicate with employees, guests, and contractors regarding simulators and exhibits.
• Driving skills to operate equipment such as forklifts, man lifts, and carts.
• Comfortable working at heights of up to 50 feet.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

• Indoors in a climate‑controlled building environment, as well as outdoors.
• Work areas subject to dust, noise, and hazards related to the profession.
