Overview
LPN - $38 per hour, RN - $44 per hour. Alden of Huntley, a new state of the art rehabilitation and nursing facility, is looking for nurses to join our team. We offer tuition reimbursement for staff seeking to advance their healthcare careers and cover the costs of uniforms. We have a robust orientation, EMR training, and pharmacy training processes to set our nurses up for success.
By joining our team, you will work with multiple patient skill levels from skilled nursing, to long term custodial care, to memory care.
- Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as facility policies. The objective is to ensure the highest degree of quality care at all times.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin.
- Must possess a current CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
- Demonstrates interest and/or knowledge in care of the aged.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
- Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
- Ability to deal tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies, and the general public.
- Leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Sight/hearing or use of prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately.
- Ability to work independently with flexibility, integrity, and ability to work effectively with customers, family members, personnel, and support agencies.
- In good general health and emotionally stable.
- Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
- May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, and residents in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and viruses (e.g., HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis
B).
- Accept and support as directed by appropriate authority; handle varying floors, customers, and workload as assigned.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct care for the unit's residents.
- Ensure nursing procedures and protocols follow established policies.
- Directly supervise and instruct nursing staff to promote job knowledge.
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and dress code.
- Assist in developing a written plan of care for each resident.
- Attend and participate in care plan conferences as directed.
- Report concerns or complaints to the Administrator.
- Counsel/discipline nursing personnel as needed.
- Make daily rounds to ensure required duties and procedures are followed; conduct rounds with physicians as necessary.
- Foster a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout the department.
- Attend continuing education programs.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Nursing.
- Place orders for medications and treatments following budget guidelines.
- Utilize PCC 24-hour summaries for care recommendations/concerns.
- Fill out accident/incident reports.
- Encourage physicians to review treatment plans and sign orders and records as required.
- Document nurses’ notes accurately reflecting care provided and patient response.
- Complete required assessments at admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on appropriate forms; record diet orders and forward to Dietary.
- Perform routine charting in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure admission, discharge, and transfer processes are completed.
- Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
- Review medication records for accuracy and compliance with stop orders.
- Provide professional services as required (e.g., catheterization, tube feedings, dressings, wound care, etc.).
- Assist in orienting new residents and their families to the facility.
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by the physician.
- Notify attending physicians and families of changes in condition.
- Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered; take and record vital signs as necessary.
- Notify physicians regarding changes in condition, medication orders, incident reports, and abnormal lab/X-ray results.
- Ensure nurses’ notes and monthly summaries reflect the care plan and its implementation.
- Attend staff meetings and perform other related duties as assigned.
