Position Title: Campus Maintenance Specialist
Department: Facilities & Operations Admin - MU5200
Classification: CN - Class Nonexempt
Work Type: Full-Time; 0.53 FTE or greater
Job Description- Performs skilled technical work in maintaining, modifying, repairing, and removing HVAC systems, devices, and related controls. Conducts preventive maintenance using hand and power tools and precision testing devices, aligning work with manufacturer specifications and work orders or verbal instructions.
- Maintains generators and campus equipment (refueling, checking fluid levels, battery condition, monthly testing) and assists contractors on larger repairs and load testing.
- Maintains chemical stations for boilers and chillers, checks levels, troubleshoots controllers, handles chemical drums, and assists in delivery of chemicals.
- Responds to trouble calls to ensure efficient daily university operation; inspects water/steam/pneumatic lines and checks equipment wear; monitors temperatures and chemical properties; insulates pipes and ductwork as needed.
- Maintains and repairs steam-related equipment; completes truck and shop inventories; documents service dates, problems, repairs, or replacements.
- Performs repairs to machines and equipment; reports major breakdowns to supervisor; inspects HVAC systems for malfunctions, replaces filters, and maintains equipment.
- Handles piping and fittings for various utility systems; assists with seasonal transitions of heating and cooling systems; performs preventive maintenance per manufacturer recommendations; gains access for repairs when needed.
- Restores work sites after projects and coordinates cleaning, painting, or tile replacement; maintains plant facilities, equipment, and work areas; operates diagnostic tools and power/hand tools; adheres to environmental and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet Marshall University needs, including support for other shops/trades.

Salary Range: $28,777–$37,410; salary is commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity. Salary Grade

Required

- 1 year of experience in maintenance/construction or an equivalent combination of related experience. Facilities and Operations/Internship experience, education, and training.
Preferred
- Tech/Vocational School Certification / Special Licensing.
