Overview
Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Bariatric Intake Coordinator with our Bariatric Surgery department.
Responsibilities- Serve as the first point of community contact for inquiries about the bariatric program and services offered.
- Process all referrals for bariatric evaluation and, with direction from the Bariatric Program Manager, pre-screen potential patients to advance them to the next step of the program.
- Schedule and maintain registration for all bariatric educational seminars, including securing dates for seminars, coordinating staff coverage, and communicating the schedule to both the bariatric team and the marketing department for public announcement.
- Track specific data and provide weekly and monthly reports to the Bariatric Program Manager in a timely manner, including but not limited to incoming referral sources, seminar registration statistics, and procedure statistics.
- Work closely with the Bariatric Insurance Coordinator to ensure up-to-date knowledge of each insurance carrier’s specific requirements for bariatric surgery coverage.
- Support each patient during the completion of the program to confirm all necessary requirements are met before advancing the patient through the program; document these requirements and completion in the patient’s EMR.
- Provide periodic support for educational seminars, including equipment and room setup, patient registration, and answering patient questions.
- Assist with accreditation compliance as needed, provide phone coverage, ensure office equipment functionality, and assist with compiling marketing packets, patient applications, and educational materials.
- Perform additional duties within the department as needed.
- Working knowledge of bariatric surgery and its administrative processes to direct patients and answer program questions.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize daily activities, and function independently.
- Ability to be sensitive to the needs and health issues of the obese and morbidly obese patient and family.
