Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown Cardiac Unit position requiring a WV or compact RN license, with night shifts and advanced cardiac care skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a 20-bed Stepdown Cardiac Unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes pulmonary, cardiac, neuro, GI, and post-surgery patients who are stable but at high risk for instability
- Mixture of adult med-surg, telemetry, and step-down patients based on unit and bed availability
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1, but may be up to 5:1 depending on staffing
- Care involves administration of critical drips such as Amiodarone, Esmolol, Insulin, Lasix, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin
- Patients do not require invasive monitoring in this unit
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week from 19:00 to 07:00
- Administer and monitor critical drips for step-down cardiac patients
- Unit includes private rooms and a multidisciplinary patient population at risk for rapid changes in condition
- Annual and specialty-specific modules are required and completed during orientation
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit
- Local candidates are not accepted
- Required to provide two professional references
- Travelers must submit a copy of driver’s license and Social Security card
- Lab work and onboarding modules must be completed promptly as specified
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum of one year of relevant stepdown or cardiac nursing experience required
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
- Completion of required lab work within 72 hours of contract signing is mandatory
