Medical Social Worker

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a part-time Medical Social Worker to work with our Clinical Resource Management Department
. The Medical Social Worker (MSW) exercises independent judgment and professional discretion in the practice of case management to a selected group of patients. The MSW collaborates with attending physicians and residents and serves as advocate to help patients and families navigate the acute episode of care. The MSW monitors patient’s continuing stay for resource utilization and helps prepare them for a safe and timely discharge.

The MSW is proactive and uses collaborative problem solving skills to meet the needs of the patients and physician. The MSW provides a full range of medical social work services as needed and relies heavily on such resources as family, community, state and federal agencies as well as the patient’s resources to assist the patient’s return to a productive life.
