Job Responsibilities- Prioritizes patient comfort, privacy, and confidentiality throughout all interactions.
- Provides timely and compassionate service to patients during in‑person device interrogations.
- Escorts patients from the waiting area to the exam room where tests will be conducted.
- Maintains communications with patients during testing wait periods, ensuring their comfort and addressing any questions they may have.
- Reviews patient charts before conducting tests and explains procedures to the patients.
- Performs required procedures using appropriate equipment.
- Obtains and inputs data for all types of cardiac devices and leads, including retained but inactive ones.
- Identifies critical device or patient conditions and consults with electrophysiologists appropriately.
- Makes adjustments to pacemakers and ICDs as directed by the electrophysiologist.
- Ensures the transfer of data from interrogations and inputs all device and lead information into the data storage system.
- Sets up patients for trans‑telephonic monitoring.
- Coordinates same‑day add‑on procedures efficiently.
- Prepares testing reports for review and signature by electrophysiologists.
- Identifies device and patient issues requiring emergent, urgent, or routine attention.
- Notifies physicians regarding emergent or urgent device or patient issues in a timely manner.
- Submits billing for pacemaker/ICD/ILR interrogations.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area and stocks forms and linens as needed.
- Performs appropriate equipment preventative maintenance and reports equipment failures to the Nursing Supervisor.
- Initiates service calls as needed within contract guidelines.
- Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule and assignments, including providing satellite clinic coverage as needed.
- Participates in training sessions for other electrophysiology team members.
- Restocks supplies when needed, ensuring exam areas are always prepared for patients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduate of a school of nursing, Cardiovascular Technology and/or CCSD, IBHRE, CRAT Certification required. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or Basic Life Support Certification, or Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred. Current RN license required for RN candidates.
ExperienceProficiency in handling all device and lead types as well as familiarity with interrogation and reprogramming equipment required. Ability to work independently and travel to other Marshall Cardiology clinics. Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency, including MS programs and database entry. Bilingual skills are a plus.
