Job Summary

The Coordinator of Student Support Services is responsible for the oversight of student assistance programs and services, including areas such as computer systems sign on, admissions, financial aid, business office, registrar, and career services with the ultimate goal of fostering an enhanced collegiate experience. Additional responsibilities include supervising and directing the work activities of student employees assigned to the area. Job responsibilities require considerable discretion and sound judgment to deliver appropriate services to a diverse student population.

Work is performed under limited supervision, working from established policies and objectives; the supervisor/manager is available to resolve more complex problems. Problems faced in this position may address non‑routine questions and situations, requiring investigation and/or research of precedents. Decisions may affect the management and operations of an area within a department, and may contribute to important strategy, operations, and business decisions that affect the department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Marshall University Department of Physical Therapy.
  • Perform general clerical tasks including photocopying, faxing, shipping and receiving packages, and maintaining both hard copy and electronic filing systems.
  • Maintain databases related to admissions and clinical education.
  • Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Education in managing clinical contracts and scheduling student clinical rotations.
  • Assist the Director of Admissions in the admissions process.
  • Coordinate and organize SOPT events such as White Coat and Hooding Ceremonies and new student orientation.
  • Supervise student workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty (core and adjunct), the Chairperson/Program Director, Directors of Clinical Education, and the Director of Admissions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a multitasking environment while interacting with multiple individuals.
  • Proficiency in common software applications, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to conduct internet research.
  • Basic knowledge of Marshall University systems such as MURC, MU, Banner, and BERT.
  • Ability to manage clinical education databases, reconcile purchases using a P‑card, and handle confidential records and documents.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology is desirable.
  • Ability to travel to regional student recruiting events.
