Overview
CDM Smith is seeking a CEI Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector 3 for field inspection in Huntington, WV. The inspector will inspect and monitor construction activities at various field site locations. Work is primarily routine and standardized, performed under direct supervision from higher level inspectors and engineers. The role requires knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction; the ability to read, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
- Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor. Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily contractor reports, inspect contractor quality control procedures and material testing, and verify procedures conform to the approved Quality Control Plan and established procedures.
- Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measure quantities of materials placed. May be required to perform sampling and/or in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity (e.g., ACI or NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
- Valid driver’s license. 2 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Driver's License Requirements:
An appropriate and valid driver's license is required. - Amount of Travel: 20%
- Skills and Abilities:
