We would love for you to become a member of our team! The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. Manages the check-in and registration process, interviews patients, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
Hourly rate: $17.50- $26.00
Bonus eligible up to $600/month
Responsibilities- Conduct patient registration, secure required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verify insurance and patient eligibility.
- Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for the assigned center.
- Coordinate provider referrals to the assigned Specialist.
- Answer patient questions regarding their care and keep them informed of their status.
- Inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Prepare patients for examination, interview to verify patient information and medical history, and confirm purpose of visit.
- Perform preliminary physical measurements (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.
- Conduct point-of-care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide results to the provider.
- Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have needed medical supplies.
- Maintain inventory by completing order sheets and checking expiration dates on supplies.
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
- Answer phone calls and manage daily incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Ensure reception is well maintained and conduct courtesy follow-up calls with patients.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building.
- Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs and submit repair tickets as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma required; graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred. - Work Experience:
Medical Assistant experience preferred;
Front Desk experience preferred. - Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire (ARC or AHA).
- One of the following certifications at time of hire:
- CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- CMA - Certified Medical Assistant
- RMA - Registered Medical Assistant
- NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant
- NRCMA - Nationally Registered Medical Assistant
- In lieu of an approved MA Certification, we will also accept:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN/RN
- EMT (National Registry)
- CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
Skills And Abilities
- Basic Medical Assistant duties
- Ability to type quickly and basic computer knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail oriented; able to rely on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, participate on a team, and accomplish goals
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
