General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times, and execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor, immediately correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for security of the building, including entrance/exit control, electronic article surveillance, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Responsible for customer safety, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Tests all fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treats all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times, recognizing associates with Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with Company dress code and ensures all associates adhere to it.
  • Keeps all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
  • Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed, processing all merchandise with a sense of urgency, and receiving all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms, helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor, and ensures any back‑stock is secured and processed.
  • Responsible for merchandising of departments, reducing loss due to damage, ensuring compliance with monthly presentation guidelines, and handling floor moves and promotional signings.
Loss Prevention
  • Complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a large customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguards confidential information, cash, and credit card information, and keeps the Public View Monitor system maintained properly.
  • Conducts “code” package inspections and executes all Company Best Practices while maximizing productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensures associates execute to Company standards at the front end, maintaining pace, presence, and managing the line to expedite customer wait times.
  • Trains and coaches associates on registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards.
