Position SummaryThe Quality Engineer has “cradle to grave” quality system responsibility over a specified group of products.
Responsibilities- Participate in all cross-functional Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) teams and issue status reports.
- Administration control required to ensure all applicable elements and phases of the APQP process is accomplished.
- Completes all applicable PPAP elements.
- Completes and issues ISIR and first article reports, as required.
- Initiates initial and revised PPAP elements (as applicable) for each family grouping of customer numbers or individual customer number as applicable.
- Creates and revises inspection instructions and quality records.
- Determines measurement and test equipment needs.
- Verifies inspection and tests feasibility.
- Creates inspection instructions utilizing correct metrology.
- Utilizes correct sampling plans and/or SPC subgroup sizes at proper sampling frequencies.
- Creates correct visual inspection methods and aids.
- Carries out the policy requirements as mandated in the Precision Resource Quality Manual and administers all applicable quality procedures as related to the applicable product line.
- Audits inspection functions to ensure full compliance to all applicable polices, procedures and work instructions.
- Processes customer returns and quality concerns.
- Processes requests for deviation as directed by MRB.
- Issues customer status reports.
- Review sample size, sample method, verification of inspector’s findings and description adequacy.
- Issues status reports and corrective action forms for major, critical, or repetitive non-conforming issues.
- Initiates EN-007 form to make corrections and changes to tools and processes.
- Conducts new supplier qualification surveys and periodic and special supplier audits.
- Surveys new suppliers to determine if qualifications are adequate to add company to “Approved Supplier” list.
- Conduct periodic and special supplier audits as required.
- Trains and monitors inspector performance.
- Audits processes, equipment, and personal performance against the control plan for conformance.
- Associates degree or technical certification in manufacturing.
- 5 years quality engineering or equivalent experience in an automotive metal stamping or machining manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of experience working with ISO-9000 and ISO/IATF 16949 or equivalent quality system.
- Knowledge and experience with AIAG Automotive Manuals preparing PPAP’s, GR&R and Capability Studies, SPC requirements, etc.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety requirements.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong advanced math and statistical skills.
