Overview

Our group is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR functions across our California operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in automotive retail, a deep understanding of California employment law, and hands-on experience managing payroll, compliance, and risk within a dealership environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of HR operations including employee relations, payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Administer and process dealership payroll in ADP, ensuring accuracy and adherence to California-specific payroll regulations (meal/rest breaks, overtime, final pay, etc.).
  • Maintain organized and accurate HR documentation and personnel files in accordance with company policy and state/federal law.
  • Advise leadership on employment law matters, policy updates, and compliance with California labor laws.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes while ensuring consistent application of policies and best practices.
  • Conduct investigations, maintain documentation, and manage disciplinary and corrective action processes.
  • Partner with accounting and department leaders to ensure alignment on headcount, compensation, and employee classification.
  • Oversee compliance with wage and hour laws, EEO, FMLA/CFRA, and other applicable employment regulations.
  • Develop and maintain HR metrics, reporting, and audit readiness to mitigate risk.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of HR management experience within an automotive dealership environment.
  • Proficiency in ADP payroll and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and dealership payroll practices.
  • Exceptional organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience supporting both variable and fixed operations teams a plus.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP) strongly preferred.
