The Position
Golden West College is seeking a full‑time, equity‑minded, tenure‑track faculty member in Political Science, commencing with the Fall 2026 semester. The primary teaching assignment involves all areas of Political Science and includes curriculum and program development; participation in department, division, and college committees; leadership in participatory governance across the institution; collaboration across disciplines; leveraging student support resources; ongoing professional development; and maintaining and performing required accreditation for the program.
The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online, hybrid, or off‑campus and is subject to change as needed. Examples of Duties andPosition Requirements
- Maintain currency within the assigned discipline(s)
- Demonstrate verbal and written communication proficiency with students, colleagues, and staff
- Use effective teaching methods and materials appropriate for the course, discipline, modality, and students
- Comply with course outline requirements and student learning outcomes
- Maintain regular and timely office hours
- Ensure confidential, accurate maintenance of student records
- Adhere to College and departmental requirements consistent with applicable bargaining agreement
- Demonstrate appropriate respect for students, fairly evaluating and discussing student work and supporting diversity through teaching and learning methods
- Demonstrate respect for colleagues with conduct characterized by ethical considerations, integrity, collegiality, commitment to the college, and intellectual courage to share professional opinions constructively
- Provide instruction in Political Science according to established course outlines
- Lead in the development and revision of Political Science curriculum responsive to the students served
- Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; develop programs to measure student performance
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics standards
- Fulfill full‑time faculty responsibilities: teach according to schedule, keep accurate enrollment and progress records, submit grades on time, maintain office hours, and participate in departmental and college activities and committees as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in political science, government, or international relations; OR Bachelor’s degree in one of the above and Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, or a Juris Doctor or Legum Baccalaureus; OR equivalent
