An innovative UK clean‑technology engineering company is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to support the development of next‑generation high‑voltage electrical and energy systems for electric vehicle applications. This is a hands‑on role offering exposure to battery systems, power electronics and high‑voltage architectures, working from prototype build through to system validation and integration.
The Role- Design, build, integrate and support high‑voltage electrical systems across prototype and pre‑production programmes
- Install, commission and support battery systems, power electronics and high‑voltage electrical architectures
- Produce and review electrical schematics, harnesses and system interfaces
- Carry out hands‑on testing, debugging and fault diagnosis of HV and LV systems
- Own and contribute to system‑level FMEA and structured design reviews
- Support supplier selection and technical integration of electrical and energy systems
- Ensure compliance with high‑voltage safety standards, legislation and certification requirements
- Maintain clear technical documentation covering builds, tests, diagnostics and system modifications
You will be an engineer with proven experience working on high‑voltage electrical or electrified vehicle systems, comfortable operating in a fast‑paced development environment and contributing across the full engineering lifecycle.
Essential Experience- Minimum 3 years' experience working with high‑voltage electrical, EV or power electronics systems
- Strong background in electrical systems engineering
- Experience designing electrical schematics, harnesses and system interfaces
- Hands‑on experience testing, commissioning and debugging high‑voltage systems
- Knowledge of three‑phase power and DC systems up to 1000V
- Understanding of relevant electrical standards and communication protocols including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C and PLC
- Experience contributing to DFMEA or system‑level FMEA activities
- Automotive or aerospace engineering background
- Experience with AC/DC power conversion or DC/DC systems
- Exposure to supplier technical management and system integration
