Mechanical Engineer
If you’re a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who enjoys stripping, rebuilding, and presenting mechanical systems to the highest standard, this is a role that will genuinely interest you.
This Mechanical Engineer role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical or mechanic background who enjoys working with engine assemblies, precision components, and mechanical systems. You’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical assemblies, from disassembly and inspection through to preparation, reassembly, and final presentation. The focus is on producing exhibition-quality mechanical systems that showcase engineering at its best, not production-line output.
Job Responsibilities
Disassemble engine components and mechanical assemblies with precision and care
Inspect and assess mechanical parts to determine condition and suitability for reuse
Reassemble engines and mechanical systems using drawings, diagrams, and build documentation
Use abrasive tooling including grinders, polishers, and deburring tools to prepare components
Prepare mechanical parts to exhibition and display standards
Catalogue components during disassembly using logs, photographs, and diagrams
Maintain accurate documentation to support correct reassembly and quality control
Work with fabricators to support the design and build of stands, supports, and transport crates
Support exhibition and display preparation to ensure components meet visual and technical standards
Carry out quality checks across disassembly, preparation, and reassembly stages
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or from a strong mechanic background
Hands-on experience with engine disassembly and reassembly
Solid understanding of mechanical components and assemblies
Experience using abrasive tools and surface preparation equipment
High level of attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Ability to follow detailed documentation and create accurate build records
Experience with generators, hydraulic systems, or precision-engineered assemblies is beneficial
Pay and Benefits
Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience
Full-time hours Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm
Supportive and collaborative engineering environment
Opportunity to develop skills across precision engineering and specialist mechanical work
Long-term stability with varied, hands-on projects
Why Apply
This Mechanical Engineer role offers something genuinely different, hands-on mechanical work where quality, precision, and presentation are the priority. If you’re someone who enjoys detailed mechanical projects and wants to see the finished result of your work showcased properly, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss
