Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift role in a community hospital, requiring 2-3 years of ED experience and current NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in the Emergency Department of a community hospital setting
- Night shifts are 12 hours, 18:45 to 07:15, with assignments every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
- 36-hour work weeks for a 13-week assignment
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:4, flexing based on acuity
- Cares for the full age spectrum; pediatrics are stabilized and transferred
- Cares for stroke and chest pain cases, provides t-Pa and TNK, and transfers STEMI and trauma cases as indicated
- Procedural sedation, IV starts, telemetry, and triage required
- Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication system, and EPIC EMR
- No float requirement
- First-time travelers are accepted for consideration
- Interdisciplinary team includes RN, CNA, paramedics, dedicated charge nurse, MD, and MLP
- Orientation includes two 12-hour shifts on the unit and a week of hospital orientation
- Scrubs are navy and/or white
- RTO after booking is not allowed; up to 7 days RTO may be taken if approved up front
- Weekend work is every other weekend as scheduled
- Stroke and chest pain certified department with protocols for rapid intervention and transfer
- Overcapacity may require boarding of inpatients in the ED
- No floating required for this role
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2-3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BCLS, NIH, and PALS certifications required
- MOAB certification required (facility will provide class if not already certified)
- Strong skills in IV start, telemetry, triage, conscious and procedural sedation, and dysrhythmia management
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- ENPC and TNCC certifications are preferred
