About Our Atascocita Location (Harris County):Gateway’s largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center.

Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday from 6:30 am - 8:30 pm
- On-call rotation required (Monday–Monday); responds to calls via provided phone to offer clinical guidance. Rare onsite coverage may be needed in the event of staffing shortages.
The nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care from admission through discharge, including administering medications, conducting daily assessments in coordination with physician appointments, and monitoring vital signs and withdrawal symptoms. Duties also include completing intake assessments, performing wound care, drawing labs, and responding to medical emergencies. Nurses follow established protocols, support discharge planning, and provide patient education on medications, treatments, and healthy lifestyle habits.
This role requires accurate documentation in the EMR system and maintaining professional, compassionate interactions with patients in various stages of recovery.
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and in compliance with established protocols and physician orders.
- Conduct daily patient visits in coordination with physician appointments, including performing assessments, monitoring vital signs, and implementing follow‑up care as needed.
- Carry out medical protocols and procedures as directed by healthcare providers and in accordance with facility guidelines, including responding to changes in patient conditions.
- Provide wound care management, including cleaning, dressing, and monitoring healing progress per clinical standards.
- Complete intake assessments to evaluate new patients’ medical and behavioral health status upon admission.
- Perform routine and stat laboratory draws, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and timely transport to designated labs.
