Hull City Council is seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join its Children's Services team. This is a vital role focused on ensuring children in care receive high-quality, timely, and effective plans that truly meet their needs.

About the Role
As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will:
Chair independent fostering reviews and statutory reviews for children in care
Ensure children's care plans are robust, timely, and outcome-focused
Monitor local authority performance in relation to care planning and permanence
Ensure the child's voice is central to decision-making
Provide independent challenge to promote best practice and accountability
Work closely with social workers, foster carers, and multi-agency partners
This role is central to maintaining high standards and ensuring that children's needs remain the priority at every stage of their journey.
What We're Looking For
Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
Experience working as an Independent Reviewing Officer or in a senior children's social care role
Strong knowledge of fostering regulations and statutory review processes
Confidence in chairing meetings and constructively challenging practice
A strong commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice
