Join Our Team as a Family Help – Senior School & Community Practitioner
Are you an experienced practitioner ready to take the next step in your career? Do you want to lead and inspire others while making a meaningful difference to children and families with early, emerging or complex needs?
We’re looking for a Family Help – Senior School & Community Practitioner to join our dedicated team in East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with schools, colleges and community partners to support children and families at key transition points and help prevent needs from escalating.
About the Role
As a Senior Practitioner, you’ll:
- Provide early intervention and parenting support in schools and community settings.
- Support schools to deliver theFamily
Help offer and promote positive engagement. - Attend, organise and chair multi-agency meetings and Team Around the School Meetings.
- Support and contribute to partner assessments and family plans.
- Champion the voice of the child and promote trauma-informed practice.
- Lead on complex cases, undertaking whole family assessments and developing tailored, outcome-focused plans.
- Deliver targeted, evidence-based programmes to parents and carers.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to School & Community Practitioners, supporting reflective practice and service development.
- Deputise for Team Managers and represent the service in key thematic areas
- Promote multi-agency working and ensure effective information sharing across partners.
- Develop a network of partners from external agencies within your area that offer services to support children and families.
This is a frontline leadership role where your expertise, creativity, and commitment to trauma-informed practice will be vital in achieving better outcomes for children and families.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:
- Holds a diploma or degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent).
- Has extensive experience working with children, young people, and families with complex and high-risk needs.
- Can lead and coordinate multi-agency casework and deliver group and individual interventions.
- Builds and maintains professional working relationships with internal and external partnerships, promoting the service and able to resolve challenges within this.
- Has experience mentoring or supporting staff and promoting best practice.
- Understands safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Is flexible, values-driven, and committed to continuous professional development.
- Holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle.
- Understands the social and economic factors affecting family outcomes.
