About the Centre

The new Molecular Imaging Research Centre (MIRC) at Castle Hill Hospital is a purpose‑built centre housing a radiopharmacy, blood labelling suite, a GE GENtrace cyclotron and PET radiotracer synthesis facilities.

The unit will produce GMP‑standard radiopharmaceuticals for research and clinical use for patients in Hull. The unit is newly opened and will progress operations working under Section 10 exemption in the Radiopharmacy unit. The post holder will support operations and QC testing for the radiopharmacy and participate in the qualification and validation processes in the PET unit.

The MIRC offers a unique opportunity to be involved in local, national and international research. The cyclotron enables tailored diagnostics, improving availability and patient outcomes.

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Quality Control Manager to join our small team. You must have strong attention to detail, excellent organisational and leadership skills, and a passion for quality management. Experience with in the pharmaceutical industry is a distinct advantage. The post holder must be eligible to be named on the MHRA specials licence and will manage key areas of the facility to deliver a safe and robust clinical and research service.

Responsibilities
  • Support operations and QC testing for the radiopharmacy and PET unit.
  • Participate in the qualification and validation processes for the PET unit.
  • Manage key areas of the facility to ensure safe and robust clinical and research service delivery.
  • Implement and manage a Process Quality System (PQS).
  • Handle deviation and change management, CAPA, quality risk management, and quality auditing.
  • Analyse analytical data and oversee staff management.
  • Ensure final product release adheres to GMP standards.
  • Collaborate closely with scientific, medical and technical staff in a high‑pressure environment.
Qualifications
  • In‑depth knowledge of quality control procedures and techniques.
  • Experience with final product release and implementation of a PQS.
  • Strong background in deviation and change management, CAPA, quality risk management, and quality auditing.
  • Proficient in staff management and analytical data analysis.
  • Experience with both training and research is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of manual dexterity, accuracy, reliability and adaptability.
Work Environment

Work is varied and demanding, requiring prioritisation of demanding clinical and research workloads. The unit will begin operation early in the day, so a rota system will operate, making flexibility essential.
