Reports to: Farm Distributions Supervisor
Salary: $21/hr
Dream of Wild Health (DWH) is celebrating 28 years of working to restore health and wellbeing within the Twin Cities Native American community and has recently grown to a 30-acre farm in Hugo with an office in Minneapolis.
We are seeking a Farm Distributions Assistant for the 2026 season to help us bring the harvest to the TC Native community. The Farm Distributions Assistant is responsible for staffing the DWH Farmers Market booth along with the Distribution team from Jun-Oct, and will work alongside the Market Garden Team to prepare produce for distribution, and support field work at the farm.
Responsibilities& Expectations
- Attend Farmers Market including preparation, set-up, staffing, & take-down weekly on Thursdays, Jun-Oct.
- Provide exceptional customer service and create bountiful displays that attract community members and customers.
- Connect with community members while working at the Market stand and DWH events.
- Operate a POS system and handle multiple types of payment, including coupons and vouchers, and adhere to SNAP/EBT and WIC regulations. Proficiency with Square marketplace/sales is a plus.
- Work with DWH team & community partners to ensure successful product delivery across programs.
- Efficiently load and unload deliveries; ensure packages are transported and stored safely and properly.
- Support Market Garden team with field work (about 15-20 hours weekly), including: harvesting, washing, processing and packing orders according to DWH food safety plan; seeding, weeding, and watering in our market gardens.
- Work with Farm Distribution Supervisor to ensure accurate invoicing, reports, and market deposits.
- Support DWH program activities and community events as needed, and other duties as agreed upon.
- Strong cultural competency and commitment to working in Native communities.
- Experience with farming/gardening, farmers markets, or retail/customer service.
- Familiarity with a variety of types of produce and sustainable agriculture are pluses.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high stimulus environment, while remaining friendly & organized.
- Ability to communicate clearly, directly, and work collaboratively with staff, partners and customers.
- Must be punctual and mindful of time constraints regarding market shifts and deliveries.
Must pass a background check as this role will interact with youth. Must have a valid driver’s license because driving company vehicles is a component of this job. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds; stand, sit, squat and kneel for 8‑hour days; use hands to safely operate farm tools and equipment; work outdoors in excessive heat, rain, cold, or communicate reasonable accommodations;
ability to lift semi‑heavy objects; and flexibility to work occasional weekends and/or evenings; commute to and from the Hugo farm and in the Twin Cities area.
