Lead IBM i Platform & Systems Engineer

Direct Hire Opportunity

• Salary Range: $120,000 - $125,000
• Bonus: 7.5% annual bonus plan

• Preferred: Menasha, WI (must work 3 days/week onsite

This role provides advanced technical leadership for IBM Power servers, IBM i OS partitions, HMC, VIO Servers, and IBM DS storage arrays. You will ensure stability of mission‑critical ERP platforms while driving innovation in observability, automation, and security.

• Act as the escalation point for complex operational support, troubleshooting, security enforcement, and performance tuning across IBM Power systems and IBM i OS environments.
• Manage IBM Power and IBM i OS ecosystem end‑to‑end: hardware, virtualization, and OS administration.
• Administer IBM VIOS (configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting).
• Drive observability and AIOps adoption to improve monitoring and reduce MTTR.
• Advance automation through Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Ansible, CL) for patching, compliance, and reducing repetitive tasks.
• Design, test, deploy, and support HA/DR solutions (MIMIX or similar) for ERP availability and business continuity.
• Mentor and communicate effectively to align technical and business stakeholders with modernization initiatives.

• 5+ years of experience in IBM Power/IBM i OS environments.
• Expertise with HMC, MIMIX HA/DR, VIO server, and IBM DS storage.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes and incident resolution.
• Skills in troubleshooting, CL scripting, and infrastructure design.
• Ability to work standard business hours with flexibility for after‑hours/weekend work during patching, OS upgrades, and on‑call rotations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
• 10+ years managing IBM i OS and IBM Power hardware environments.
• Experience implementing observability and AIOps initiatives.
• Familiarity with Fortra products (Alert, Console, Compliance Monitor, Exit Point Manager) or similar.
• Background in platform security and compliance automation.
