Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Bethel Highlands Preschool, we believe preschool is more than preparation for kindergarten — it is sacred ground where children begin discovering who they are and whose they are. The Lead Teacher at Bethel Highlands Preschool (BHP) is called to joyfully serve preschool children and their families through high‑quality early childhood education rooted in Christian faith. This individual creates a nurturing, developmentally rich environment where curiosity is encouraged, relationships are cherished, and God’s love is woven into everyday moments.
As a vital part of our ministry, the Lead Teacher helps children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with school wide curriculum and themes (including literacy, math, science, art, music, movement, social‑emotional learning, and technology).
- Create a positive, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that supports each child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual growth.
- Maintain learning centers and display student work.
- Conduct student assessments and hold two parent conferences annually.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with administration and outside professionals as needed to support student needs.
- Maintain required certifications including CPR, First Aid, and AED.
- Complete required background checks and report any pending violations.
- Fulfill 15 annual continuing education hours and maintain Registry certification.
- Understand and comply with Wisconsin DCF 251 licensing standards.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and incident records.
- Manage classroom budget responsibly.
- Arrange approved substitutes when absent and provide lesson plans.
- Utilize technology effectively for communication and documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, orientation, school programs, fundraising events, and holiday celebrations.
- Assist with shared operational duties and light classroom cleaning.
- Mentor postsecondary education students completing classroom placements.
- Support and enhance the Christian ministry of Bethel Highlands Preschool.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, and Christian values in all interactions.
- Report suspected abuse or neglect to Child Protective Services as required by law.
