The Installation Technician is a skilled technician responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties on technology projects. This position is primarily a shop position executing the actual work of technology projects, although some onsite work may be required. The Installation Technician coordinates with Senior Installation Technicians and the Systems Integration Manager to fully understand their role on specific projects to ensure all deliverables are met.
The Installation Technician will be a training resource for other members of the Integration team.

- Occasional leadership of integration teams, in the shop or onsite when a Senior Installation Technician is not present.
- Reliably assemble and install delicate, high value AV and network equipment without damage
- Perform Quality Control operations at all phases of production as directed by Senior Installation Technicians or Integration Manager
- Provide feedback for efficiencies as encountered during fabrication
- Provide direct training to other technicians in fundamental skills and internal processes
- Occasional travel for on-site work, up to 10%
- Maintain an organized work environment, specifically orderliness and cleanliness of the shop
- Physical installation of a wide variety of technology into a wide variety of locations
- Accurately cut cables for bench fabrication to assigned lengths; sort and flag cut cables for rack lacing and/or shipment to project sites as directed
- Prepare and label cables for fabrication both by hand as well as by use of automated striping machines per Diversified standards
- Execute and test cable terminations for all Broadcast, Network and A/V connectors
- Ability to read and understand cable wire lists as well as project drawings and documentation for cable fabrication
- Preparation of equipment racks for staging of equipment, wire lacing including installation of power strips, grounding bars, jack-fields, etc.
- Mount equipment into racks, terminate all wiring and connections to equipment as per the technical drawings
- Able to read and understand functional design drawings as well as equipment rack diagrams
- Able to build and wire custom panels from engineering drawings
- Fiber optic cable handling, installation termination, and testing
- Responsible for maintaining tools and test equipment, materials inventories and keeping things clean, orderly and well documented
- Progressive ability, capacity, and aptitude to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and obtain cooperation from others
- Analytical thinking, structured problem solving, clear communication, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to manage a fluctuating workload with competing priorities in a constant pressure and deadline-driven environment
- Safety-minded; ability to follow safety rules, regulations, and procedures and make safety an important component of all shop operations
- Self-motivational personality; ability to build strong rapport across team and departments
- Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information
- 2+ years of integration experience in a broadcast engineering environment
- Demonstrated understanding of the execution of engineering and design projects
- Advanced proficiency with various broadcast systems and equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and AutoCAD
- Ability to work overtime for extended periods to meet project deadlines as required; travel to client locations for projects as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to walk or stand up to 8 hours at a time
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel on both knees, and climb stairs frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs. frequently
- Ability to carry 50 lbs. a distance of 50 feet occasionally
- Ability to pinch (10 lbs.) and grip (50 lbs.) related broadcast equipment
- Must be able to maintain a position within a space 3.5 - 4 feet tall up to 1 minute occasionally
- Ability to horizontally transfer 40 lbs. on a push-pull cart up to 50 feet
- Ability to vertically transfer 50 lbs on push-pull system with upper extremities only from 4.5 – 6 ft
- Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
