Position Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Clinical Trials Assistant working generically across our busy and growing research portfolio. Working with experienced Research Midwives, Research Nurses and Clinicians, you will contribute towards the safe conduct of approved research studies in our hospitals. This post will primarily be based at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, but the successful candidate may also be expected to work at Calderdale Royal Hospital as required.
Key Responsibilities- Work autonomously and as part of a research multi-disciplinary team (MDT), supporting studies under the supervision of Research Midwives/Nurses or Allied Health Professionals.
- Collaborate with specialist consultants and clinical trial units.
- Utilise and develop existing clinical skills, such as phlebotomy and vital sign collection, to support the Research Midwives/Nurses.
- Handle significant administrative tasks, ensuring IT proficiency and accurate capture of research data from patients and their medical records.
- Support the Research Team to increase patient recruitment, promote the development of commercial research and contribute to high‑quality research.
- Interact with patients & families regarding the requirements of clinical trials and work without supervision in some areas.
- Carry out research data capture and entry into databases/electronic case report forms (treatment, observational, genetic).
- Assist with the set‑up of new trials, maintain study paper and electronic site files/documentation, and process protocol amendments.
- Accurate documentation, identifying patients via MDTs/screening notes, receiving consent, recruiting participants and supporting & monitoring research patients.
- Lead an observational/genetic study following appropriate training & mentorship.
The CHFT research team provides a Monday to Friday 9‑5 service, with potential for 7‑day working in the future. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to develop skills & expertise in research and to advance our Trust's research portfolio.
