CVAD nurse

Opportunity for a part‑time 23‑hour CVAD nurse to join the existing CVAD team. The post holder will ideally be CVAD trained; alternatively training will be provided. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients with a Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) across both Calderdale and Huddersfield sites on a 7‑day service.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver high standards of care when accessing a Central Venous Access Device.
  • Participate in formal education and teaching sessions for registered nurses on the care and maintenance of CVADs.
  • Assess staff accessing CVADs and sign them off as competent.
  • Support senior team membersconditionally on PICC insertion days.
  • Maintain exemplary communication with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Establish and execute plans of care that benefit patients and ward staff.

  • Ensure high standards of nursing care are maintained and act accordingly when standards are not met.
  • Recognise changes in a patient's condition requiring intervention and refer on appropriately.
  • Act as an advocate for the patient and family, protecting their interests, rights, equality, inclusion and privacy.
  • Contribute to a culture that works in partnership with patients and families, involving them in all decisions.
  • Work within the NMC code of professional practice and accordance with Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Be flexible to work across sites to meet changing service demands.
  • Take responsibility for continuing professional development, identifying own development needs and maintaining a portfolio in accordance with gezond re‑registration requirements.
