Risk and Compliance Manager

The Risk and Compliance Manager will support the firm’s Director of Risk and Compliance who also holds the position of COLP in ensuring Ramsdens meets all regulatory obligations under the SRA Standards and Regulations and properly mitigates and handles risk across the firm. This role is critical in maintaining our reputation for integrity, client protection, and risk management.

• Regulatory Compliance
• Assist in ensuring and monitoring compliance with SRA Principles, Code of Conduct, and firm authorisation terms.
• Support the implementation and review of risk and compliance policies and procedures.
• Provide firm-wide support and advice in relation to Anti-Money Laundering compliance
• Support the department’s Onboarding Team
• Support staff in terms of regulatory and ethics decision making, including in relation to conflicts of interest
• Provide input into system developments to ensure compliance or risk management
• Help identify and mitigate compliance and other risks across all practice areas.
• Maintain and update risk registers and escalating issues promptly.
• Monitoring & Reporting
  • Conduct file audits and compliance checks.
  • Assist in recording and reporting material breaches to the COLP and SRA and other regulatory bodies or stakeholders.
• Support delivery of risk and compliance training for staff.
• Communicate regulatory updates and best practice guidance.
• Liaise with all other Heads of Department and their teams regarding risk and compliance issues
• Assist in investigating compliance breaches and implementing corrective actions.
• Assist in investigating negligence claims and liaising with insurers and their solicitors
• Insurance, accreditations and authorisations
  • Help with annual and monthly renewals
  • Assist with the maintenance of accreditations
  • Contribute to the practising certificate renewal process
• Data protection and file production
  • Assist with responding to data subject requests
  • Assist with responding to Court or other agency production orders
  • Assist with arranging file transfers
• Documentation
  • Maintain accurate risk and compliance records for audits and regulatory reviews
• Liaise with third parties
  • Assist in creating and maintaining relationships with third party suppliers and others, including reviewing contract terms

• Knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations and compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering Regulations
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance systems.
• Previous experience in a legal or compliance role is essential
• Previous experience of litigation, and particularly claims handling, is desirable
