Overview
The Clinical Operations Manager for Endoscopy is a highly visible, influential, and clinically credible leader who will inspire excellence in patient care and support the ongoing development of the Endoscopy service. As a skilled and motivated role model, the post holder will work alongside clinical teams to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care, creating a positive environment where staff can reach their full potential.
The post holder will have oversight of all aspects of endoscopy care pathways, supporting high standards at the point of care and throughout the wider service. Working collaboratively with the endoscopy leadership team, they will use their specialist clinical knowledge and nursing leadership to improve quality, patient experience, safety, and operational performance.
A core component of the role is ensuring compliance with Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation standards, driving continuous quality improvement and leading related inspections and reviews. The post holder will champion innovation, support transformation programmes, reduce patient safety incidents, and promote staff wellbeing.
This role requires compassionate leadership, clear communication, and the ability to influence and support staff across the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will contribute to service planning, workforce development, clinical governance, risk management and the creation of a culture of openness, learning and improvement.
Responsibilities- Provide visible, accessible and compassionate clinical leadership within the Endoscopy service, acting as a positive role model for nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality and person-centred care, ensuring standards are maintained and taking action where improvement is required.
- Lead and support the team in achieving and maintaining Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation, including preparation for inspections, monitoring compliance and updating the leadership team on changes to standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Endoscopy leadership team to drive innovation, improve patient outcomes, and support service transformation.
- Provide expert clinical advice, supporting staff development through supervision, coaching, feedback and facilitation of reflective practice. Lead or contribute to investigations into incidents, complaints and patient feedback, ensuring learning is embedded and action plans are delivered.
- Manage delegated budget areas and work with the General Manager to support financial planning, cost‑improvement and resource allocation.
- Analyse and monitor service performance, including patient activity and national targets, and produce reports as required.

Qualifications and Requirements- Be clinically competent, with up to date theoretical and clinical knowledge around Endoscopy and Decontamination.
- To lead on JAG accreditation inspections and annual reviews, with support from endoscopy leadership team.
- To horizon-scan and lead on the ongoing development of the JAG accreditation standards and evidence requirements and keeping leadership team aware of relevant changes to guidance.
- In collaboration with the endoscopy leadership team, ensure the Endoscopy service complies with the requirements of JAG and escalate non-compliance to senior team.
- To be an active member of the Endoscopy user and quality assurance group, providing assurance and updates relating to learning from incidents, current project work and JAG updates.
- Be visible, accessible and approachable in the clinical area to the clinical team, patients, service users and their carer. Promoting a compassionate culture of care.
- Be a positive and inspirational role model to ensure that clinical expertise and practice is enhanced.
