Overview

37.5 hours per week. Role will be covering both the Calderdale and Kirklees CAMHS Eating Disorder Team as well as the opportunity to work within the developing ARFID pathway. The successful candidate will offer assessments and interventions appropriate for the needs of the young people within our service. They will have opportunities to develop services for the needs of local populations.

Training in areas where you may feel you need development is offered. Supervision will be offered within your professional group as well as supervising other staff and developing their practice. As a band 6 you will have the opportunity to further develop your clinical skills and knowledge by offering care co-ordination and intervention for more complex young people. We are a growing team from a well established and supportive MDT after additional investment into the service.

Job Summary

The post-holder will offer Eating Disorder and Mental health assessment and intervention to young people with symptomology of Eating Disorders or ARFID, engage families to empower them to support recovery, and work with the MDT with the young person at the centre. The role includes supervision from peers and within the wider team, use of outcome measures, care planning and risk assessment, and maintaining high standards of care in line with the Trust values.

The post-holder will work within clinical and case management supervision frameworks and may be required to work on the CAMHS on-call rota and extended hours as needed. The role supports delivery of a comprehensive CAMHS system and collaboration with partners to ensure timely transition and appropriate consultation, training and support to universal services and targeted groups.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide assessment and treatment to children and young people with mental health needs.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within the MDT, providing consultation for other agencies/professionals.
  • Work as part of CAMHS on-call rota.
  • Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
  • Provide routine and urgent assessment and interventions for a wide range of emotional and psychological problems within evidence-based practice with supervision from a senior clinician.
  • Use outcome measures to monitor goals and recovery progress.
  • Care planning and risk assessment as part of daily practice.
  • Maintain high standards of care and alignment with Trust values.
  • Engage in information technology systems (e.g., Rio) for data collection, security and confidentiality.
  • Participate in clinical audit and governance processes; contribute to service development and improvement.
  • Engage stakeholders and users in service development and monitoring; promote user/carer involvement in care planning/delivery.
  • Work in a child, young person and family-centered way with a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Apply Trust policies in situations of aggression, acute distress and disturbed mental health presentations.
  • Maintain relevant professional registration and manage concerns through appropriate channels.
Person Specification

Special Knowledge & Skills

  • Essential
  • Good verbal and communication skills.

  • IT skills.

Training

  • Desirable
  • Training and experience relating to specialist CAMHS.
  • Experience of delivering training to others.

Qualifications

  • Essential
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., nursing or allied to medicine).
  • Dip SW or relevant mental health profession.
  • Membership of professional body.
  • Desirable
  • Post Registration qualification (e.g., degree).
  • Post graduate qualification in mental health (e.g., CBT, Family Therapy, Counselling).
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.

Experience

  • Essential
  • Substantial post-qualification experience, including work with Children, young people and their carers in mental health or complex care settings.
  • Multidisciplinary team working and inter-agency liaison.
  • Experience supervising/mentoring junior staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance (NHS Plan, Mental Health Legislation, Children’s Act, Working Together, etc.).
  • Clinical/therapeutic knowledge and skills in mental health.
  • Experience in assessment and risk management and implementing evidence-based practice.
  • Proven ability to work with other agencies and organisations.
  • Experience of safeguarding children and young people.
