Overview
During an exciting time of expansion for respiratory medicine within the Trust, we are looking to appoint a Consultant to help expand the department to 11 WTE consultants and develop further services currently provided by the Trust. The post involves out-patient and in-patient duties and a regular commitment to 7 day working. We are looking for but not limited to an individual with an interest in Interstitial Lung Disease or Lung Cancer, with a commitment to working alongside existing Consultants to develop both services.
We would also consider alternative sub speciality interest.

- Commitment to 7‑day working, including weekend rota and overnight on‑call duties
- Develop and expand Interstitial Lung Disease and Lung Cancer services
- Collaborate with existing Consultants and develop own sub‑specialty interests
- Interest in Interstitial Lung Disease, Lung Cancer, or other respiratory subspecialities
- Commitment to developing services alongside existing consultants
- Newly accredited consultants encouraged to apply; experience in a similar role preferred
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust offers high standards of patient care, a supportive development programme, and a digital health environment with a full Electronic Patient Record. The post includes supportive professional activities: 1.5 SPAs for CPD, audit, supervision, governance and mandatory training.
Future PlansThe Department of Health and Social Care has awarded capital funding to invest in local health services at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, enhancing services for the communities in Calderdale and Huddersfield and West Yorkshire.
Digital InnovationThe Trust is at the forefront of the digital health revolution, aiming to become a truly paper‑free organisation and providing future opportunities for research and development in rapidly developing fields of medicine.
Professional DevelopmentThe Trust Board and Local Negotiating Committee have agreed a core allocation of 1.5 SPAs for supporting professional activities, including CPD, appraisal, clinical supervision, audit, governance and mandatory training. Objectives should be agreed at the job plan review meeting.
