Job Summary

We are recruiting experienced Band 6 mental health practitioners (RMN, OT, Social workers) into our Crisis and Intensive Home-Based Treatment Team in Calderdale and Kirklees. The successful applicant will have experience of working in mental health, be able to work autonomously whilst knowing the limitations of the role and will have exemplary record-keeping.

This role is outreach work in the community and so a driving licence will be essential. Main

duties of the job

The post holder will work shifts between the hours of 9am and 8pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year, under the supervision of a CAMHS Crisis Team Shift Co-Ordinator worker and will have Clinical Supervision provided by an experienced clinician. The primary role is supporting children, young people and their families, who are open to CAMHS and require intensive support in the community to reach their full potential.

The role also involves liaising with other professionals, handing over, assessing young people including care planning and risk assessment. Using Goal Based Outcomes to monitor young peoples journey through CAMHS within a discharge-focused, collaborative approach, is vital to this role. The post holder will use therapeutic engagement skills to inspire young people to maintain their life skills, education and physical activity to aid recovery to ensure children and young people continue to be integrated in the community.

Forming and maintaining professional relationships is a key part of the role. We welcome applicants who are:

Experience, Knowledge,

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Substantial post qualification experience, some of which must be working with Children, young people and their carers in a mental health or other complex care setting.
  • Multidisciplinary team working; inter-agency liaison and consultation.
  • Experience in patient provision and liaison between different levels of CAMHS.
  • A grasp of relevant legislation and guidance (NHS plan, Mental Health Legislation, Children Act, Education Act, Working Together, Children’s NSF, Every Child Matters, etc.).
  • Clinical/therapeutic knowledge and skills re mental health and behavioural problems including assessment and risk management and ability to implement evidence-based practice.
  • Understanding of research methodology and audit.
  • Proven ability to work with other disciplines and in partnership with other organisations including service users.

Desirable

  • Post Registration qualification (e.g., degree).
  • Post graduate qualification in mental health (e.g., CBT, Family Therapy, Counselling).
  • Experience of community settings; previous experience in working in a CAMHS setting.
