A successful and growing multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Drainage & Flood Risk Engineer to join their established team in Huddersfield. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in delivering drainage and flood risk solutions across a wide range of development and infrastructure projects.
Working within a collaborative, multi-discipline environment, you will contribute to the design and delivery of sustainable drainage strategies, flood risk assessments, and infrastructure solutions for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
The Role of Senior Drainage and Flood Risk Engineer;
As a Senior Engineer, you will take responsibility for delivering high-quality drainage and flood risk projects while supporting junior engineers and working closely with other disciplines across the business.
Key Responsibilities of this Drainage and Flood Risk Engineer position;
- Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and Drainage Strategies for planning applications.
- Design of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and surface water management solutions.
- Production of detailed drainage designs for residential and commercial developments.
- Liaising with local authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Environment Agency, and water companies.
- Supporting the delivery of projects from concept through planning and detailed design stages.
- Mentoring and providing technical support to junior members of the team.
- Use of industry software such as Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, Civil 3D, or similar.
About You
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong experience delivering drainage design and flood risk assessments within the UK development sector.
- Good understanding of SuDS principles, planning requirements, and relevant UK standards.
- Experience working with stakeholders including local authorities and statutory consultees.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status (ICE or similar) is desirable.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
