Teacher Deaf - Newsome Academy

Role Overview

Kirklees Council is advertising this position on behalf of Newsome Academy, a leading comprehensive school in Huddersfield. The role is based in the Hearing Impaired Additionally Resourced Provision (HIARP), which supports pupils with complex hearing needs, their families and designated local mainstream schools.

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team – including teachers, support staff and other professionals – to support the learning and welfare of all targeted pupils.
• Develop and lead strategies that improve the learning and inclusion of children with hearing impairments, ensuring a successful transition into mainstream schools.
• Organise, deliver and evaluate learning programmes for children with hearing loss and complex needs across the sensory strand.
• Build confidence and trust by working closely with parents, carers, families and schools throughout Kirklees.
• Collaborate with SENCOs, class teachers and support staff in a range of mainstream schools to embed best practice.

  32.5 hours per week – full time.
• Location:
  
  Huddersfield and surrounding areas.
• Grade: MPS / UPS + SEN 2.
