Position: Fixed Term - Salaried General Practitioner (GP)

Elmwood Family Doctors is a large, modern General Practiceoperating from two locations in Huddersfield (Holmfirth and Meltham).

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated

Salaried GP for a fixed-term contract of up to 12 months, with the opportunity to work up to 6 sessions per week.

The successful candidate will join a team comprising of 10 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 4 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and a comprehensive administrative support team.

Our practice is known for its friendly and supportive environment, encouraging individual clinical interests and continuous professional development. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements to help achieve a suitable work-life balance while meeting the operational needs of the Practice.

Both Holmfirth and Meltham offer excellent living and working environments, boasting good schools, annual cultural festivals, and convenient access to Leeds, Manchester, and Sheffield. The villages are setwithin picturesque Pennine countryside and benefit from strong local amenities.

Main duties of the job

Our Practice is open from Monday to Friday, and staffschedules are flexible to ensure all hours are covered. We aim to consider each person's preferred working hours while making sure there is sufficientcoverage. The successful candidate will agree upon their schedule, which will include some extended hours.

We use Systm One as our main clinical system.

We are a well-established Practice, split across two sites. Our Holmfirth site is based in a modern building with excellent facilities. Our Meltham sits in the heart of the local village community. We offer a full range of services across both practices.

Job responsibilities

Key Clinical Responsibilities
  • The post-holder will practice in accordance with accepted good medical practice and the various clinical policies of Elmwood Family Doctors.
  • The post-holder will work to an agreed timetable and make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, mainly online prescriptions, and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • The post holder will make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation or external organisations.
  • The post holder will assess the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • The post holder will contribute to QOF requirements and recording data appropriately to achieve other practice quality markers.
  • The post holder, in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health related illnesses.
  • The post holder will record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
