The General Surgery directorate is appointing for its Endoscopy admin and waiting list manager post. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to apply for this full‑time substantive post. This pivotal role combines people management with the chance to work in a dynamic and fast‑paced speciality. You’ll be part of a multi‑disciplinary team, helping to ensure that administrative processes run smoothly and effectively to support high‑quality patient care within our two Endoscopy units.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the day‑to‑day administrative operations of the service.
  • Support the delivery of key performance, quality and financial targets.
  • Contribute to service development in line with directorate plans.
  • Improve patient pathways through efficient administrative systems.
  • Implement and manage monitoring and administrative systems to achieve national and local waiting‑time targets.
  • Implement and manage the administration team and patient waiting lists.
  • Oversee all administrative and clerical processes to enable a high‑quality and effective patient‑focused service.
  • Provide senior support and expert knowledge to the administration team.
  • Work alongside clinical operational managers to support the daily running of theatre lists and aid any escalations.
  • Review and optimise the admin structure and processes to support key performance measures and comply with national and trust targets.
  • Ensure all staff work toward the delivery of high‑quality care to patients and JAG accreditation.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across the trust to consistently achieve agreed quality metrics.
Main duties of the job
  • Provide a full and comprehensive administration service for the Endoscopy units, including line management.
  • Conduct operational activities, working autonomously using initiative and specialist knowledge and experience of the service to make decisions.
  • Implement and manage monitoring and administrative systems to achieve national and local waiting‑time targets.
  • Manage the administration team and patient waiting lists.
  • Oversee all administrative and clerical processes to deliver a high‑quality, patient‑focused service.
  • Provide senior support and expert knowledge to the administration team.
  • Collaborate with clinical operational managers to support daily running of theatre lists and address escalations.
  • Review and optimise the admin structure and processes to support key performance measures and comply with national and trust targets.
  • Ensure all staff work toward high‑quality care for patients and achieve JAG accreditation.
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships across the trust to achieve agreed quality metrics.

Person Specification QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
  • Degree level or equivalent level of experience.
  • Recognised management qualification.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
  • Relevant experience in the NHS.
  • Knowledge of NHS targets.
  • Experience of waiting list management.
  • Experience of NHS performance management.
  • Experience of staff and budgetary management.
  • Knowledge of the e-Referral System (eRS).
  • Understanding of 18‑week referral to treatment targets.
  • Able to analyse the nature of complex problems, using a variety of sources and formats, and can describe the desired solution and options for achieving this.
