Semi‑Senior Accountant
Huddersfield (Office‑Based, HD2). £25,000–£30,000 DOE | Full‑Time (37.5 hrs/week)
An established chartered accountancy practice based in Huddersfield is currently seeking a Semi‑Senior Accountant to join their growing Accounts Team. Our client supports a diverse portfolio of approximately 500 clients and is known for delivering a high‑quality, personalised service.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice‑based accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and professional environment.
The RoleReporting to the Senior Accounts Manager, the successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure service levels and deadlines are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of year‑end statutory accounts
- Preparation of corporation tax computations
- Conducting year‑end accounts meetings with clients
- Supporting clients with accounts queries, including Sage and Xero
- Preparation of management accounts when required
- Completion and review of VAT returns
- Supervising and supporting accountants and trainee accountants, including providing technical guidance
- Liaising with HMRC
- Visiting client premises as required
- Contributing to team meetings and departmental improvements
- Assisting with business development and actively seeking new clients

Skills & Qualifications
- AAT qualified
- Minimum of 2 Years Experience Within An Accountancy Practice
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Confident IT user with good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
- Good working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts and Xero
- Solid understanding of VAT and corporation tax
- Experience using IRIS Accounts Production
- Exposure to other bookkeeping software such as Free Agent or Quick Books
- Use of own car
- Salary £25,000 £ 30,000 depending on experience
- 23 days annual leave, increasing by 1 day per year up to 26 days
- 37.5 hours per week
