Charter Bus Driver – (Part-Time, As-Needed)
Position SummaryCleary University, a small nonprofit university committed to supporting student success both on and off the field, is seeking a responsible and professional Charter Bus Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for our athletic teams. This part‑time, as‑needed position involves driving university‑chartered buses to scheduled games, tournaments, and other student events, sometimes including evening, weekend, or overnight travel.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate a university‑chartered bus for transportation of athletes, coaches, and staff to sporting events and team functions.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure safety and compliance.
- Adhere to scheduled departure and arrival times, adjusting as needed for traffic or weather.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle throughout each assignment.
- Represent the university professionally and courteously while interacting with students, staff, and event personnel.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch, athletics staff, and university administration regarding schedules, delays, or vehicle concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation laws, including DOT regulations and university policies.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- At least 2 years of professional driving experience (charter, school, or coach bus preferred).
- Availability for flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and occasional overnight trips.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Experience transporting college students or sports teams.
- Familiarity with regional travel routes and destinations.
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred, not required).
- Ability to sit for long periods while operating a vehicle.
- Ability to lift and assist with loading team gear or equipment (up to 50 lbs occasionally).
