About the role of a Production Supervisor:

To manage manufacturing functions and personnel to meet and keep all quality management system (QMS) requirements and established procedures while satisfying all customer product requirements as scheduled.

Accountable for Manufacturing Health and Safety issues.

Job Functions of a Production Supervisor:
  • Supervise all manufacturing personnel and their respective daily responsibilities.
  • Acts as a cross-functional team member to insure a consistent problem solving base.
  • Oversee and insure all coil loading, die setting, press operations are being performed safely and correctly.
  • Complete employee evaluations with reference to performance.
  • Issue disciplinary actions toward employees who have not followed company rules.
  • Regulate, monitor and assign proper training for new employees.
  • Participate in weekly APQP meetings (as required)
  • Participate in MNP's nonconformance procedures and conform to theQMS Corrective & Preventative Actions requirements and work instructions.
  • Participate in Daily Production meeting.
  • Ensure operators are using and understanding the Mfg. Item Job instruction sheets.
  • Ensure that operators fill out all paperwork required, correctly and on a timely basis.
  • All other responsibilities required by the General Manager
  • Enforce safety rules and MIOSHA requirements. Identify and report all potential safety issues, with any and all equipment and manufacturing working environment.
Responsibilities of a Production Supervisor:
  • Meet with all employees 10 Minutes before the start of their shift and discuss with them DAILY, safety, quality and efficiency.
  • 1st shift starts at 6:30 AM and 2nd shift at 2:45 PM. Need to ensure, everyday, operators are at their machines and they are running at these times.
  • Make sure your operators clean their area. They are to make sure oil, empty containers, hoppers, coils etc. are available for the next person.
  • Follow the cleaning schedule at the press, make sure operators do their part and clean the designated part of their equipment every day before they leave. Audit their area every day.
  • Provide all the (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment to all the employees on the floor.
  • Make sure everyone is wearing the PPE according to the requirements.
  • Make sure everyone is wearing their safety glasses and ear plugs at all times on the press room floor.
  • Make sure no coil bandings, cardboard or paper is left on floor. Pick up as you drop it, before it gets worse.
  • Run floor scrubber in aisle way at the end of your shift or before you leave.
  • Make sure all the coils are checked in and put in their designated area, neatly, before you leave.
  • Make sure WIP area is organized at the end of every shift.
  • Make sure the welder area is clear of all containers, dies and debris. This area is to be kept clear at all times.
  • Make sure all the mop buckets are clean and available at each press. They need to be in the painted circles designated for them (when not in use) at all times.
  • Make sure to keep pack and sorts in the pack area.
  • Everything has a place. If not, designate a place for it, put a sign up/ stencil area for it. Reference 5S.
  • Monitor the floor throughout the shift.
  • Provide training to operators when applicable. Take your time, they are an extension of you.
  • Make sure there are no tools or clamps on the bolster or ram, after set up is complete.
  • Call tool room and QC to complete the end of run sheet at the end of each run. This is to never be missed.
Additional skills and/or experience required for success in the role of a Production Supervisor:
  • High School Graduate /or equivalent
  • 5 Years manufacturing experience
  • 3 Years supervisory experience
  • 3 Years metal stamping experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
