Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a talented and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading specialty electric motor manufacturer. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of custom electric motors for a wide range of industrial applications, from concept through production. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of electrical engineers, manufacturing specialists, and sales professionals to deliver high-performance, precision-engineered solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for electric motors, including housings, rotors, stators, shafts, bearings, and cooling systems.
• Perform engineering analysis including stress, thermal, and dynamic simulations to optimize motor performance and reliability.
• Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and specifications using CAD software (Solid Works or similar).
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost, and quality.
• Lead design reviews and participate in cross-functional project meetings.
• Research and integrate new materials, technologies, and design methods to improve product performance and efficiency.
• Provide engineering support for prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of new designs.
• Maintain documentation according to company and industry standards, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), test reports, and engineering change orders (ECOs).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree a plus).
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within electric motor or rotating equipment industries.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Solid Works preferred).
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, heat transfer, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of electric motor principles (AC, DC, induction, synchronous motors) is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
