Freight Import Specialist – Houston
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Freight Import Specialist to join their Houston-based freight forwarding team. This role is ideal for a logistics professional with strong import operations expertise who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for coordinating end-to-end import processes, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and maintaining clear communication with clients, carriers, and internal teams.
BasePay Range
$65,000.00/yr – $65,000.00/yr

- Manage full-cycle air and ocean import operations, including booking, documentation, tracking, billing, and file closure.
- Coordinate with international agents, carriers, customs brokers, and warehouse partners to ensure timely cargo movement.
- Prepare and verify all required import documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, HBL/MBL, arrival notices, etc.).
- Monitor and track shipments proactively, providing regular updates to clients and resolving delays or exceptions.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, partner government agencies, and company procedures.
- Create and maintain shipment records using the company’s TMS;
Cargo Wise experience highly preferred. - Prepare customer quotations, handle service inquiries, and support key account activities as needed.
- Coordinate delivery arrangements and manage final‑mile logistics.
- Review vendor invoices and ensure accurate billing in a timely manner.
- Maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and professional support.
- 4+ years of experience in air and ocean import operations within a freight forwarding environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs requirements, international shipping documentation, and import compliance.
- Cargo Wise experience strongly preferred; familiarity with other TMS platforms a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy.
