Overview
Scheduling/Chartering Specialist (1688) role forms a variety of functions related to ensuring that crude oil is efficiently and economically scheduled and transported from Saudi Arabia to customers in Europe and North America. Under the general direction of the Manager - Operations, responsible for forecasting, scheduling or chartering and marine-related functions to ensure timely transportation of Saudi crude oil.
Principal Duties- Compiles the forward crude laydown program for Saudi Aramco s third-party customers and the SRI/Shell Joint Venture. Compiles a monthly lifting program for nomination to Saudi Aramco. Liaises with Saudi Aramco personnel to develop a final lifting program and informs customers of the approved lifting program.
- Monitors, with Saudi Aramco, the progress of crude lifting and tanker voyages to ensure laydown commitments are met. Coordinates with customers and Saudi Aramco to incorporate schedule or nomination changes into the overall program.
- Oversees and manages documentation, inspection and verification of cargos loaded and delivered.
- Negotiates tanker voyage charters and time charters to cover approved lifting programs, as directed.
- Monitors trends in the tanker market and recommends plans and programs to capitalize on these trends.
- Manages and negotiates trans-shipment, lighter age, barging and tug services contracts for cargos entering or within US waters.
- Monitors the performance of Saudi Petroleum and Vela tankers under time charter to ensure speed, pumping and consumption rates meet contractual guidelines.
- Manages, with Bahri and Saudi Aramco, the economic routing of controlled tonnage. Dispatches orders and manages voyage progress.
- Provides ship management services as required for tankers under time charter contracts.
- Bachelor s Degree in Marine Transportation, Engineering, Economics or Business Administration. Masters License holders may be considered, particularly for chartering or marine assignments. A Masters in Marine Transportation or an MBA is desirable.
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience in oil planning and scheduling or marine fields.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English at a level required to perform the job.
- Good work habits, strong work ethic, and ability to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
