Job Description
The Airside Experience Specialist is responsible for a variety of duties that contribute towards safely providing requested services for general aviation aircraft, crew and other guests. The role routinely operates ground service equipment and utilizes company policies and procedures to deliver efficient and exceptional service to guests of the private aviation terminal (PAT). The specialist must work flexible schedules, including night, holiday, and weekend shifts, and may perform functions under varying weather and environmental conditions such as precipitation, extreme temperatures, jet engine fumes, dust, and noise.
Tasks are performed inside and outside near stationary and moving aircraft, including spinning propellers and engines.
- Work as part of a team to conduct airside operations safely and efficiently in accordance with established policies and SOPs, ensuring accurate communication to accomplish operational tasks.
- Collaborate closely with team members, guests, clients, vendors, and aircraft crew members to meet service needs, including fueling, de‑icing, lavatory, ground power, potable water, parking, marshalling, wing walking, catering delivery, and towing.
- Proactively prepare for arriving or departing aircraft, identify open job tasks, and promptly report safety concerns to all stakeholders.
- Operate and drive ground service equipment such as fuel trucks, de‑icing trucks, ground power units, tugs, stair trucks, etc.
- Load and unload luggage and other cargo into or out of aircraft and from the PAT, guest vehicle, or other mode of transportation.
- Provide professional and friendly guest service while exhibiting a positive and helpful attitude at all times, ensuring guests receive an exceptional experience.
- Offer safe, convenient, and courteous transportation when driving a shuttle vehicle to transport guests, luggage, and cargo.
- Maintain safe, clean, and secure ramps and operations.
- Perform fuel handling, including fuel quality control, fuel receipt, inventory, and accurate documentation.
- Understand, comply with, and enforce all operational, safety, and guest service requirements for all aspects of the job.
- Stop work when an unsafe condition or act is likely to cause harm to people, the environment, company, or guest assets, and report concerns to the appropriate manager.
- Follow emergency response procedures during critical events.
- Enforce all security (physical, cyber, and data) protocols as dictated by Signature Aviation and the airport.
- Create accurate records pertaining to time worked and activities performed.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Pass company background checks (criminal and motor vehicle), drug tests, meet airport background check requirements to receive and maintain an airport security badge, and be insurable by the applicable insurance policies.
- Legally authorized to work in the jurisdiction of employment.
- Excellent vision and coordination to move and/or direct aircraft and visually inspect aircraft fuel; must pass a color vision test for inspecting aviation fuel.
- Valid state driver’s license required; a commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required in some locations.
- Exercise good judgment and follow directions from supervisor or management.
- Preferred:
Three to six months of experience and/or training in aviation, customer service, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hospitality skills:
Excellent guest service skills with an energetic, outgoing, and guest‑obsessed personality. Prioritize guest requests and job responsibilities by multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced environment. - Language skills:
Read and comprehend English safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate in English via phone, radio, and writing. - Math skills:
Perform simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, angles, time). - Physical ability:
