Cloud Engineer - Software, Backend Developer, DevOps, Full Stack Developer
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Backend/API Developer in Houston, TX. We are looking for an experienced senior developer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will help architect, build, and maintain the backend services and APIs that power our applications.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and support RESTful APIs using C# and .NET frameworks within a microservices environment
- Architect and deliver scalable microservices solutions, defining clear service boundaries and effective communication patterns
- Build, maintain, and optimize database solutions leveraging SQL Server, Mongo
DB, and AWS RDS - Develop and operate containerized applications with Docker, and manage deployments using Kubernetes
- Create and maintain serverless functions using AWS Lambda to enable scalable backend capabilities
- Design and implement ETL pipelines to support data processing and transformation needs
- Lead cloud migration efforts, modernizing legacy platforms and transitioning them to cloud-based infrastructure
- Plan and execute complex data migration initiatives, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime
- Apply security best practices across the stack, including authentication, authorization, encryption, API security, and container security
- Tune and optimize database queries and API performance for high‑traffic, distributed systems
- Partner with frontend engineers working in React Type Script to ensure smooth and reliable API integrations
- 7+ years of professional backend development experience using C#/.NET
- Strong experience designing and building microservices architectures, including service decomposition, relevant design patterns, and inter‑service communication approaches
- Hands‑on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Hands‑on experience with AWS, including RDS and Lambda
- Experience with No
SQL databases, especially MongoDB - Experience leading cloud migration initiatives, including planning and execution strategies
- Experience with complex data migration methodologies and supporting tools
- Experience using Git or similar version control systems
- Demonstrated experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Working knowledge of ETL processes and data pipeline development
- Solid understanding of security principles, including OWASP guidance, secure coding practices, and data protection standards
- Strong proficiency with SQL Server and relational database design
- Excellent problem‑solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills, particularly in distributed systems
- Experience with additional AWS services such as S3, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, Dynamo
DB, and Cloud Watch - Experience with message queuing and event/messaging systems (e.g., SQS, Rabbit
MQ, Kafka) - Experience collaborating with React + Type Script front‑end teams (or supporting React Type Script frontends)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and broader Dev Ops practices

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
