Position Details

    Electrician
  • Reports to:

    Quarry Supervisor
  • Shift: Monday - Thursday 6am - 4:30 pm

This position starts at a rate of $50.61 per hour, with yearly increases in October. The local union, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, offers competitive benefits and a pension package.

What You’ll Be Contributing
  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Keep electrical equipment operating efficiently.
  • Install new electrical equipment as required.
  • Preventative maintenance inspections on assigned equipment and complete accurate reports.
  • Removal and Replacement of electrical equipment.
  • Repair and troubleshoot damaged or faulty electrical equipment.
  • Report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned when not required under normal classification.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To Succeed In This Position, You Will Need
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Post-Secondary education is an asset.
  • Valid Electrical Certificate of Qualification (309A or 442A).
  • Good written/oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of current electrical code.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Read and interpret schematic and construction wire drawings.
  • Program, troubleshoot and monitor PLC systems and equipment control schemes.
  • Overhaul and troubleshoot switch gears.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair Motor control centres (MCCs).
  • Install and maintain electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, etc.
  • Install, troubleshoot and calibrate instrumentation.
  • Understand and troubleshoot different types of relays, their application.
  • Maintain, test and troubleshoot transformers.
  • Identify and correct problems with motors, AC/DC drives.
  • Lubricate assigned equipment properly.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Comply with OSHA and all applicable regulations.
  • Use personal protective equipment as prescribed.
  • Comply with CRH safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Report all incidents and near misses.
  • Report all safety hazards.
  • Follow Lockout/Tag out procedures.
  • Port security awareness.
  • Environment and Quality:
  • ISO 9001 and 14001 compliance.
Work Environment
  • Industrial/manufacturing working environment, subject to hazards such as electrical shock/arc flash, noise, dust, heat, etc.
