Description
The Box Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining roll-off containers and related equipment to ensure safety, functionality, and operational readiness. This role involves performing diagnostics, welding repairs, and preventative maintenance while upholding safety and quality standards in the shop environment. The Box Repair Technician plays a key role in supporting efficient waste operations through timely and skilled equipment servicing.
Summaryof Essential Job Functions Inspection & Diagnostics
- Perform detailed inspections of roll-off boxes and related equipment to identify structural damage or functional issues.
- Use testing tools and diagnostic methods to evaluate equipment condition and determine repair needs.
- Complete preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to extend equipment lifespan.
- Repair damaged or worn components using hand tools and welding equipment.
- Perform welding, grinding, cutting, and fabrication as needed for box restoration and reinforcement.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area by following company housekeeping, safety, and quality guidelines.
- Comply with all PPE, OSHA, and environmental safety protocols.
- Report unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to leadership immediately.
- Document maintenance and repair activities accurately.
- Communicate repair timelines and any issues to supervisors or operations team.
- Collaborate with other technicians to support workload balance and team efficiency.
- Skilled in mechanical repairs, welding techniques, and equipment diagnostics.
- Uses tools and testing equipment effectively to complete repairs.
- Carefully inspects and identifies repair needs and ensures work meets quality standards.
- Prioritizes personal and team safety, follows safety protocols, and helps maintain a hazard‑free shop.
- Takes ownership of assigned tasks, maintains accurate records, and follows through on commitments.
- Works well with others in a shop setting, communicates clearly, and supports a collaborative work culture.
Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1+ year of experience in equipment repair, fabrication, or welding preferred.
- Proficiency with welding, hand tools, and mechanical diagnostics.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, stand, and work outdoors or in shop environments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions or repair manuals.
